Welcome to the AIDS Awareness Week - 2009 Web-Page!
AIDS Awareness Week (November 24th to December 1st) is held every year in Nova Scotia to increase public awareness about HIV and AIDS. HIV/AIDS affects all of us but each year the AIDS Awareness Week organizing committee identifies how HIV/AIDS affects a particular population. Last year we focused on Aboriginal people and HIV/AIDS. This year we are focusing on delivering messages about healthy sexuality and HIV/AIDS to youth, particularly girls and young women in Nova Scotia.
This year, we are also holding a poster contest for youth as part of AIDS Awareness Week. We’re doing this because we want to make sure that youth in Nova Scotia are aware that HIV/AIDS is still a problem, that there still is no cure for AIDS, and that youth, and particularly young women, are at risk for HIV. We also want youth in Nova Scotia to know how they can best protect themselves and their sexual partners from the risk of HIV.On this page you can find the following:
