Freedom from Violence

In this province, one woman in 12 faces violence from an intimate partner, boyfriend or husband. Here in Nova Scotia and around the world, women need to feel safe and free from all forms of violence, including

The Advisory Council works with other government departments, women’s and community agencies, anti-violence organizations, and other provincial and territorial status of women organizations to reduce violence against women and girls at home, at work and in the community.

We inform and educate the public about women’s personal safety and freedom from violence, through publications like Making Changes, a Handbook for Women in Abusive Relationships, 7th ed. / Changer pour le mieux: Un livre pour les femmes victimes de violence - Cinquieme édition (Révisée) and through public events, like the December 6 commemorative event we hold each year at Province House.
