Resolution                        Date: October 5, 2017

MOVED BY:  The Honourable Kelly Regan, MLA
Minister of Community Services
Minister Resposible for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women Act

Mr. Speaker, I hereby give notice that on a future day I shall move the adoption of the following resolution:

WHEREAS this October is the 40th anniversary of the Advisory Council on the Status of Women, and Women’s History Month – a time to celebrate women and girls, and to remember how far we’ve come toward gender equality; and

WHEREAS this year’s Women’s History Month theme, “Claim Your Place,” sends a strong message to all women and girls to continue lifting each other up so that everyone has a chance to reach their full potential and to leave their mark on the world; and

WHEREAS October is Mi’kmaq History Month – and we are proud to stand with our Mi’kmaw sisters to support the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls as they hold community hearings in Nova Scotia later this month;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that all members of the House of Assembly thank the team at the Status of Women office, the members of the Advisory Council, and the province’s many women-serving organizations, and wish them success as they continue to have an important leadership role to advance equality, fairness and dignity for all women and girls in Nova Scotia.

Mr. Speaker I ask for waiver of notice and passage without debate.
